HALLOWEEN COSTUMES

Halloween, or Samhain, was an ancient Celtic festival celebrated in the U.K., Ireland, and other parts of Europe on the last day of October.

At Samhain the division between this world and the otherworld is believed to be at its thinnest, allowing spirits to pass through. The Celts honored their ancestors but also dressed up in costumes as monsters and animals, in order to scare off any evil spirits that might haunt them. No princesses or fairies – just frightening disguises!
