Following up on my previous post, as further evidence that women accused of witchcraft may have been indulging in hallucigenic herbs, the so-called “Bideford Witches” in England in 1685 appear to have made no attempt to deny the charges of witchcraft against them, including sex with the devil, a diabolical pact, and the possession of secret teats. They seemed to believe that all these were true. Only at the last moment did they frantically deny the charges.
